Hiroshima Atomic Bomb 'Survivor' Watch Sold at Auction
On August 6, 1945, a watch that 'survived' the atomic bombing of Hiroshima was sold at an auction held in Boston, according to AP News.
The hands of the watch are frozen at 8:15 AM, the exact moment the bomb was dropped on the city. “This wristwatch marks the precise moment in time when history changed forever,” said Bobby Livingston, vice president of RR Auction.
The artifact was discovered by a British soldier during a humanitarian mission to supply and assess destruction in the area.
The watch fetched $31,000 from its new owner. The Boston auction house did not disclose the buyer's name.
