Varazdat Lalayan Wins Small Gold Medal
The European Weightlifting Championship has kicked off in Sofia, Bulgaria, featuring the men's +109 kg group A category, where Armenia has two participants.
Competing for the title are world and European silver medalist Varazdat Lalayan and double Olympic silver medalist, multiple world and European champion Simon Martirosyan.
The snatch competition has concluded, with Varazdat Lalayan leading the pack. He secured a small gold medal with a result of 205 kg. Simon Martirosyan placed third with a lift of 190 kg.
A total of 11 weightlifters are registered in this weight category. Notably, double Olympic champion and seven-time world and European champion, Georgian Lasha Talakhadze, has withdrawn from the competition.
