The Issue of Prisoners Remains on Our Agenda: Nikol Pashinyan
The issue of prisoners and individuals held in Azerbaijan is constantly at the center of negotiations and discussions. This statement was made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a Q&A session with the government in the National Assembly, responding to a question from Lilit Galstyan, a member of the 'Armenia' faction, regarding the former military-political leadership of Artsakh and the efforts made to secure their return.
"Like before, today the issue of the release and return of prisoners, hostages, and other detained individuals continues to be on our agenda," said Pashinyan.
According to Galstyan, the question of releasing the captured military-political leadership of Artsakh should be separated from Armenia's lawsuit presented to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). She reminded that Armenia has submitted its fourth interstate complaint to the ECHR, which includes complex issues such as 120,000 forcibly displaced persons, vandalism against Artsakh's cultural heritage, the unblocking of the Lachin corridor, as well as the question of the Artsakh military-political leadership.
According to the parliamentarian, objectively, the review of such a vast complaint could take a very long time. In Pashinyan's opinion, if the lawyers have decided to file a joint complaint, then they considered it the right approach. He also promised to suggest that the lawyers reconsider the issue.
