Arsonist of Kyoto Animation Studio Sentenced to Death in Japan
The arsonist responsible for the Kyoto Animation studio fire in Japan has been sentenced to death. Shinji Aoba, 45, committed the arson in July 2019, resulting in the loss of 36 lives.
The Kyoto District Court found Aoba guilty and granted the request of local prosecutors who sought the death penalty. Aoba was deemed competent to stand trial, and his actions were recognized as deliberate.
