National Strike to Begin in Germany: The Reason Revealed
The German train drivers' union has announced a nationwide strike. It will last for one week, from January 23 to 29, threatening to paralyze Germany's railway transport.
On Tuesday evening, freight train drivers will stop working, while on Wednesday night, passenger train drivers will follow suit. The union accuses Deutsche Bahn, the railway company, of a lack of willingness to compromise.
"With a supposedly improved offer, Deutsche Bahn AG has once again demonstrated that it is unafraid to continue its previous course of rejection and confrontation. There are no signs of a willingness to reach an agreement," the union's statement reads.
