Films and Series for NETFLIX to be Shot in Armenia, Says Sisak Gabrielian
Films and series for NETFLIX will be shot in Armenia. This was stated by Sisak Gabrielian, a member of the National Assembly from the "Civil Contract" faction, on his Facebook page.
“As I expected, the recent changes in the Cinema Law make Armenia attractive for film production. Today, we signed a cooperation memorandum with the representative of renowned German actor and film producer Til Schweiger at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. Together, three films, "Underdog," "Dead by Dawn," and "Collapse" (an 8-episode film for Netflix), will be filmed in Armenia. Filming is expected to start at the beginning of the year. This will be the actual first application of the new law.
Let me remind you, if the established norms are maintained, the state will return to film producers 10-40 percent of the invested amount. In the coming days, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports will publish the relevant products, services, and the rules and conditions for using them.
According to experts, our country is quite suitable for film production in terms of location. At almost any time of the year, it is possible to have snow-capped mountains, melting asphalt from the heat, beautiful historical buildings and streets, as well as abandoned and uninhabited villages and factories,” Gabrielian wrote.
