Detainees Arrested with Noise and Drama Enjoying Coffee Days Later, Says Prime Minister
During the discussion of the 2024 state budget draft in the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenian citizens still do not have a sense of the inevitability of justice and judicial fairness. According to him, this is a serious problem.
“But more importantly, this public perception has deep and objective reasons. The scenes of arrests of suspects made with noise and masks, and then the fact that a few days later those same suspects are seen enjoying coffee in cafes, creates cognitive dissonance in public consciousness,” noted Pashinyan.
His understanding is that investigative and operational bodies should start relying more on verdicts rather than preliminary actions when publicizing their activities, the judicial outcomes of which no one knows. The Prime Minister stated that there are deep issues in the judicial system.
