What Concerns the West Regarding Gaza: Media

The West is worried that the buffer zone proposed by Israel in the Gaza Strip could become permanent. This was reported by the Haaretz newspaper, citing an anonymous diplomat.

"Western powers are concerned that the buffer zone will become permanent," the publication stated, referring to the anonymous diplomat. It notes that Western countries are discussing whether to support the establishment of a buffer zone in Gaza, as they have not received clarification on how long Israel intends to maintain it and whether it plans to have a long-term military presence in the area.

Another source within the publication has stated that Israel does not have a detailed plan for establishing a buffer zone after the military operations conclude.

Earlier, King Abdullah II of Jordan declared that his country rejects any scenario related to Israel reclaiming any part of the Gaza Strip or establishing buffer zones there, which would only exacerbate the crisis.

It has been noted that in October, the Financial Times, citing Israel's Minister of Agriculture Avi Dichter, reported that Israel plans to create a buffer zone in the Gaza Strip following the escalation of the Israel-Palestine conflict.
