General Grigori Khachaturov to Be Released
The pretrial detention of General Grigori Khachaturov has been replaced with bail and administrative supervision. The Appellate Anti-Corruption Court, presided over by Judge Armen Hovhannisyan, partially satisfied Khachaturov's appeal against the extension of his detention.
The defense argued that there was no basis for applying any precautionary measure against Grigori Khachaturov. 'Now we need to consider our actions in the context of the decision, which are currently unclear. Grigori Khachaturov has been transferred to the prison,' said Mihran Poghosyan in a conversation with journalists.
It is worth noting that the bail amount is set at 20 million drams, and Khachaturov will be released only after the bail amount is deposited into an account.
It should be recalled that the criminal case pertains to the alienation of land. Criminal prosecution has been initiated against Grigori Khachaturov on charges of legalizing real estate acquired through criminal means under the guise of his official capacity (money laundering). According to the Prosecutor's Office, the subject of the transaction is the area of a non-operational military unit, which was allegedly sold to Grigori Khachaturov during the tenure of Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan, under the name of a third party. There are 13 defendants in the case, including former Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan.
