Deadline? Azerbaijan Demands 8 Villages from Armenia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has issued a statement urging Armenia to correctly understand the realities of the region. “Broad opportunities for peace and stability have been created in the region. Azerbaijan, committed to the process of normalizing relations and the reintegration of Armenians living in Karabakh, calls on Armenia to adopt a constructive and fair stance in the peace process and accurately perceive the new realities,” the statement reads.
Official Baku has again accused Armenia and voiced its demands. “Armenia has chosen the path of obstructing negotiations on a peace agreement by continuing military-political provocations and landmining, thereby jeopardizing the peace process, the lives of our citizens, and hindering restoration and reconstruction efforts in the region. Moreover, contrary to its obligations, the Armenian side has not only failed to withdraw its armed forces from Azerbaijani territory, which is the main threat to peace and security in the region, but has also continued to provide them with material and financial support, and has not ceased the illegal transportation of weapons, military equipment, and mines into Azerbaijani territory. Armenia has also not transferred to Azerbaijan the eight villages that remain under occupation,” the statement emphasizes.
Auroranews is attempting to contact the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but so far there has been no response.
