Ruben Vardanyan Detained
Former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan has been detained by a court in Azerbaijan for a duration of four months. This information was reported by RIA Novosti. It is noted that Vardanyan faces up to 14 years of imprisonment on charges of 'financing terrorism.'
Recall that the State Security Service of Azerbaijan announced that Ruben Vardanyan, who was arrested yesterday while attempting to move from Artsakh to Armenia, is being accused under three articles of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
According to reports, Vardanyan, a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, has been charged with 'financing terrorism,' 'participating in the creation and activities of armed groups,' and 'illegally crossing the state border.' The court has chosen detention as a preventive measure against him.
Additionally, the State Security Service of Azerbaijan has released footage of the former state minister being escorted to his prison cell and being interrogated.
