Russian Foreign Ministry on the Situation in Artsakh
Russia continues to take consistent steps to stabilize the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. This is stated in a message from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Russian peacekeeping forces actively monitor the compliance with the ceasefire established on September 20 through their mediation.
"The absolute priority of all our efforts is to prevent a new outbreak of armed confrontation and to avoid casualties among the population," the statement reads.
Through the Russian peacekeeping forces, extensive humanitarian support is being provided to the Armenian population. In the last two days, Russian peacekeepers have delivered 125 tons of humanitarian aid and 65 tons of fuel to the region.
The programs include regular supplies of food and essentials via the Lachin and Aghdam routes. According to the latest data, up to 700 refugees are currently in the peacekeepers' base camp, more than 400 of whom are children.
Two rounds of negotiations have taken place with the direct involvement of the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces between representatives from Baku and Stepanakert. The priority issues of these discussions include demilitarization, the restoration of peaceful life, and the assurance of the rights and security of the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh.
"We hope that the positive results of this process will contribute to the rapid resumption of the implementation of the package of agreements between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia made during 2020-2022, including the unblocking of transport communications, the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the agreement on the peace treaty, and the development of humanitarian contacts," the statement concludes.
