Erdogan: We Expect Armenia to Fulfill Its Promises
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that he supports Azerbaijan: “From the very beginning, we have supported the negotiation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. However, we see that Armenia is not sufficiently appreciating this historical opportunity. We expect Armenia to fulfill its promises regarding the opening of the Zangezur corridor.
As everyone acknowledges, Karabakh is Azerbaijani land. Any imposition of a status other than that will never be accepted. Our primary goal is for everyone, including Armenians, to live side by side in peace in Azerbaijani territories. We support Azerbaijan's steps aimed at maintaining its territorial integrity, with the motto 'one nation, two states,'” Erdogan noted.
In turn, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has justified and expressed support for Azerbaijan's actions in Nagorno-Karabakh, explaining them as necessary measures. The ministry also added that “Azerbaijan had to take actions it deems necessary in its sovereign territory.”
