Poland Will Not Allow Ukraine to Join the EU Until Grain Export Issues Are Resolved
Poland has stated that it will not allow Ukraine to join the European Union until the grain export issues are resolved. This was announced by Poland's Minister of Agriculture, Robert Telus.
“Today, we need to create tools since we will survive longer with Ukrainian products. When Poland joined the European Union, we had to meet the conditions. Those conditions were imposed on us very harshly. Therefore, we must set conditions for Ukraine,” Telus stated.
He believes that the Polish embargo on Ukrainian agricultural products “constructs the possibility for Ukraine's accession to the European Union.”
It is noteworthy that Poland and other Eastern European countries have agreed to assist in transporting grain from Ukraine to global markets after its export was blocked last year. However, local farmers have faced challenges with selling their products due to the lower prices of Ukrainian grain.
