Zakhrova: Sotk Incident Demonstrated Low Effectiveness of EU Observers in Armenia
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on Azerbaijan's recent aggression towards Sotk, urged the parties to refrain from actions that could lead to a new escalation of tension and casualties.
“This tragic incident once again demonstrated the low effectiveness of the European observers stationed in Armenia. We consider it necessary to conduct regular and active work on the delimitation and demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border with Russian advisory support, while simultaneously implementing confidence-building measures,” stated Zakharova.
According to her, Moscow supports the deployment of a CSTO mission at the border, noting that other member states of the organization have expressed their readiness in this regard.
“The ball is in Yerevan's court,” added the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
