Humanitarian Situation in Artsakh Becoming More Complex Day by Day, Says Strasbourg Mayor
The humanitarian situation in Artsakh is becoming more complex by the day.
This was stated in Goris by the Mayor of Strasbourg, Zhanna Barseghyan, who arrived in Armenia with representatives from several regions of France to send humanitarian aid to Artsakh.
She outlined two reasons that motivated her to participate in this initiative. “The first is the urgency to act. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh has informed us that there is only a two-day supply of flour left. The situation is becoming increasingly difficult day by day.
The second reason is that Strasbourg is the capital of Europe; it is home to the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights. We are sending a message to the President of France, as well as to other European institutions, including the Council of Europe.
As a granddaughter and great-granddaughter of victims of the 1915 genocide, it is unacceptable for me that the right to live with dignity and simply the right to exist is being violated once again today,” said Barseghyan.
It is important to note that today, vehicles loaded with humanitarian cargo sent to Artsakh from Paris and several major regions of France have departed from Yerevan towards Kornidzor, from where they will head to Artsakh. A convoy of 10 trucks is being escorted by the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.
