What is Known About the People Who Died With Prigozhin
Details have emerged about the victims of the plane crash that claimed the life of Evgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner group, yesterday.
According to open data, Dmitry Utkin, the commander of the Wagner PMC, was a colonel in the reserve and a recipient of the Order of Courage. He was previously an officer in the Russian Armed Forces General Staff's special forces unit. Reports indicate that in May 2014, near Rostov-on-Don, he organized a training base for fighters and became a commander of a unit that was unofficially nicknamed "Wagner PMC."
One of the declared deceased is Sergey Propustin. Information about him was uncovered by the Ukrainian service "Mirotvorets," where he is classified as a member of the PMC and a reconnaissance grenade launcher. His relative, Anastasia Propustina, confirmed to REN TV that he indeed worked with Evgeny Prigozhin, but they have not yet been informed about his death.
Rosaviatsiya also listed another victim, Valery Chekalov, who was a colleague of Prigozhin. Additionally, Chekalov had previously engaged in organizing military food supplies. According to the "SPARK" database, Valery Chekalov is the general director of "Neva" LLC, which has become the owner of the company “Europolis,” associated with Prigozhin. In July, he was sanctioned by the United States due to his connections with Prigozhin, as reported by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Evgeny Makaryan and Alexander Totmin were also connected to Wagner. They are listed online as PMC employees. The Ukrainian "Mirotvorets" refers to Makaryan as a "Wagner" fighter, while Totmin reportedly participated in military operations in Sudan.
Among the victims are also three crew members: aircraft commander Alexey Levshin from St. Petersburg, second pilot Rustam Karimov, likely from Perm, and flight attendant Kristina Raspopova, preliminarily reported to be from Yekaterinburg.
