US Not Pressuring UN Security Council Members, US Embassy in Armenia States
The US Embassy in Armenia has denied reports claiming that the United States is pressuring member countries of the UN Security Council not to sign a resolution regarding the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The embassy addressed the matter in response to a question from Armenpress. "Last Wednesday, under the presidency of Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US Permanent Representative to the UN, the Security Council discussed issues related to the current humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. We have not seen a draft resolution, and the claims that the United States is pressuring member countries not to sign a resolution are utterly false. As stated in our statement to the UN Security Council, we are deeply concerned about the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, and we encourage the government of Azerbaijan to promptly open the Lachin corridor for humanitarian, commercial, and private transport," the embassy responded to the media's question regarding whether the US was preparing to present a draft resolution on the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh following the urgent session of the UN Security Council on August 16.
