EU Calls on Niger's Military to Immediately Release President
The EU has called on Niger's military to immediately release President Mohamed Bazoum. According to EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, Bazoum is effectively being held hostage.
It is worth recalling that the organizers of the coup in Niger have threatened to kill Bazoum. On the night of July 27, Niger's military announced the dismissal of President Mohamed Bazoum, the transfer of power to the 'National Council for the Salvation of the Homeland', as well as border closures, suspension of the constitution, and a ban on the activities of any political party.
