Ukrainian Prime Minister Discusses the Cost of War Over One Year
The Ukrainian armed forces and the support for the war have cost Ukraine nearly 2 trillion hryvnias annually. In peacetime, the revenue portion of Ukraine's budget was 1.3 trillion hryvnias. Currently, the state is coping with financial support from partners, as well as grants and loans. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
"We have lost about 30% of our economy and enterprises. We have lost 3.5 million jobs. In the first year of the war, we lost 29.5% of our GDP. This is less than expected. The business was adapting and continues to adapt. This year we even expect slight growth compared to last year," said Denys Shmyhal, as reported by Ukrinform.
