Video: Bags of Drugs Found in Stomach and Intestines of Citizen Arriving from Rome
Employees of the Customs Enforcement Department of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia and the Passenger Customs Inspection Division at the Western Customs House recently conducted a personal customs inspection on a citizen arriving in Armenia on a flight from Rome at the "Zvartnots" airport's customs control zone, acting on received operational information.
With reasonable suspicions that citizen M.H. may have concealed drugs in his body, he underwent an X-ray examination. Following this, it became necessary for a medical examination to be conducted with the involvement of a physician.
For this purpose, he was transferred from "Zvartnots" airport to a medical center, where computer tomography revealed the presence of spherical foreign bodies in the citizen's stomach and intestines. These were subsequently removed from his body through various medical interventions.
A total of 110 intact, 16 torn, and opened polyethylene spherical packages containing a brown mass resembling "hashish" were extracted from the citizen's body. The total weight of the substances resembling "hashish" amounted to 652 grams.
In connection with the incident, a record of the smuggling case was compiled by employees of the Customs Enforcement Department according to Article 399 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The materials related to the case, together with the seized substances, were provided to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, where a criminal proceeding has been initiated.
Note: The suspect or accused is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the legislation on criminal procedure of Armenia, and a legally valid court decision.
