US State Department Response to Sabotage Attack in Belgorod Region

The United States does not encourage Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory but leaves the decision-making right to Kyiv. This was stated today by Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the US State Department, during a press briefing.

“We do not encourage or provide opportunities for strikes within Russia, and we have made that very clear. But we also said that it is up to Ukraine (to make decisions) on how to conduct this war,” he said, responding to a journalist's questions regarding the transfer of Western weapons to Kyiv and the attack by a reconnaissance-sabotage group in the Belgorod region.

Earlier, footage surfaced online from the site of Ukrainian saboteurs' elimination in the Belgorod region. The videos displayed damaged military equipment, yellow tape on equipment on the ground, and a burned pickup truck, which had the words “For Bakhmut” written on its door.
