Lachin Corridor Fully Belongs to Russia, Responsibility Also Lies with Russia: Secretary of Security Council
According to the trilateral statement of November 9, the Lachin Corridor belongs to the Russian Federation, and Russian peacekeepers are stationed there. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, during a public broadcast.
In response to a clarifying question about whether it belongs to or is controlled by Russia, Grigoryan answered, "It belongs to."
"Because according to the November 9 statement, with Azerbaijan’s signature, the Lachin Corridor has been fully transferred to the Russian Federation. And at this moment, all responsibility for the Lachin Corridor and all ongoing events lies with the Russian Federation, because according to the November 9 statement, it belongs to the Russian Federation," the Security Council Secretary stated.
He emphasized that Russia must act to ensure that the 120 Armenians living in Artsakh are not subjected to ethnic cleansing.
"The sole purpose of these actions is to carry out a one-sided ethnic cleansing. This is what the Azerbaijani public is talking about. To a certain extent, this is also being discussed at the official level, presenting ultimatums to the Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh. And this is the reality. Russia must act," said Armen Grigoryan.
According to the Secretary of the Security Council, on the left side of the Hakari Bridge, where Azerbaijan has set up a checkpoint, is the Russian military base: "Such events are occurring in front of that military base. And everyone is left wondering, how does this happen? Has Azerbaijan reached the point where it can take such actions, or is this part of another agreement, is there another issue here? The answers to those questions are still unknown."
