Eghdzahogh, Hin Shen, Mets Shen, and Lisagor are Under Complete Blockade: Artsakh State Minister
After Azerbaijan installed a checkpoint at the border with the Republic of Armenia on the highway connecting Artsakh to Armenia, the residents of the Eghdzahogh, Hin Shen, Mets Shen, and Lisagor communities in the Shushi region of the Artsakh Republic have been left under complete blockade. They have been cut off from both Stepanakert and the possibility of traveling to the Republic of Armenia, announced the State Minister of Artsakh, Gurgen Nersisyan.
“I am personally in contact with the administration of the Shushi region and the community leaders. They have already presented the issues that may arise in the coming days if the blockade continues. Before Azerbaijan installed the checkpoint and closed the road in that section, three minors from the Mets Shen community, one of whom is three years old, traveled to the city of Goris, and now they are unable to return to their parents. A similar situation exists in the Lisagor community, where several residents have remained in the Republic of Armenia,” said the State Minister.
According to Nersisyan, he has reached out to the Russian peacekeeping forces to organize the movement of ambulances from these communities towards the Republic of Armenia and facilitate the return of our citizens, with specific measures to be taken tomorrow in this regard.
The Artsakh Information Headquarters reported on April 23 that the Azerbaijani side has closed the Hakari Bridge at the border of Armenia and Artsakh, which is located in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers. Later, Azerbaijan announced the installation of a checkpoint near the entrance to the Lachin corridor.
