Azerbaijani Man Conducts Ritual Near Vazgen Sargsyan's Tomb in Yerablur

In the Yerablur military pantheon, an incident occurred months ago between military police personnel operating in the sacred area and an Azerbaijani man. According to sources from 168.am, the law enforcement agencies approached the man due to suspicious behavior, and it turned out that he was not of Armenian descent.

“According to the Military Police (MP) staff, the man spoke quite good Armenian, but at that moment, while sitting near the tombstone of Commander Vazgen Sargsyan, he performed some ritualistic actions, made strange sounds, and raised and lowered his hands. When the police on duty in the sacred area tried to invite him to the checkpoint to determine who he was and what his purpose was for being in the pantheon, the man, who was physically well-prepared, resisted. However, the MP staff managed to bring him to the checkpoint with a few people, where it was revealed that the man was Azerbaijani,” the source reported.

Interestingly, the Azerbaijani man threatened that he should be released because, despite being born in Azerbaijan and having an Azerbaijani name and surname, he claimed to be Armenian and had long established residence in Armenia. He warned that if he was not released, there would be serious issues later on.

Sources close to the law enforcement system confirmed that such an incident indeed occurred, and the man is confirmed to be Azerbaijani, identified as E. Bejanov. “Soon after, he was released. After leaving the police station, the Azerbaijani man returned to Yerablur and demanded respect from the MP staff for treating him in such a manner,” the source added, noting that there is a recording of the incident available, and law enforcement agencies can publish it if they wish.
