I am happy and proud to return with a gold medal from Turkey. It was difficult. Regardless of everything, there was a slight feeling that we were in Turkey,” said Arthur Davtyan, World and European champion in artistic gymnastics, during a conversation with reporters, as reported by News.am.

It is noted that last night at Zvartnots Airport, European champion Arthur Davtyan, silver medalist Vahagn Davtyan, and the Armenian team were greeted with great fanfare, including zurna and dhol music. Representatives from the sports community, gymnasts, coaches and athletes from the Albert Azaryan Sports School, as well as Davtyan’s parents, wife, and 3-year-old daughter, came to welcome the champions.

“I am very happy and proud to return with a gold medal from Turkey. It was a tough competition. The Englishman Jake Jarman performed his jump 4 tenths higher. I achieved the gold medal with my second jump, which was very accurate. The point difference between me and my English competitor was minimal, but I am glad that I won the gold medal. It was hard, but I successfully did what I practiced. There was a bit of tension in the sense that we were in Turkey. Of course, we were welcomed very well, and there was no problem, but regardless of everything, there was a slight feeling that I was in Turkey. Nevertheless, I am very happy that I was able to raise our flag and play the anthem. It doesn’t matter if you are in Turkey or in another country; it is a joyful fact that you are a winner throughout Europe.

I am also very happy for the bronze medal in the parallel bars. Unfortunately, the boys couldn’t pass the qualification round and reach the finals. I was able to perform my routine well and get the chance to compete for a medal. In the finals, we made certain changes in the routine, and I achieved the bronze medal based on cleanliness,” said Arthur Davtyan.

Recall that on April 16, Arthur Davtyan secured a glorious victory at the European Championship. The World and European champion performed brilliantly in Antalya and was named the European champion. The national anthem of Armenia was played in his honor, and the flag was raised.
