Explosion Rocks Georgia: Damage and Injuries Reported

In Kutaisi, Imereti region of Georgia, an explosion occurred at a boiler house belonging to the Interventional Medical Center, located nearby. This was reported by aliq.ge.

The explosion destroyed a technical building in the center's courtyard and damaged the adjacent pathology department building.

“After the sound of the powerful explosion, there was a strong smoke and the smell of gas. We thought everything around us had collapsed; our building was partially destroyed, and a lot has been damaged. However, we believe that the laboratory equipment will be preserved,” said Maguli Chkhobadze, head of the pathology department.

According to reports, four people were injured in the pathology department building at the time of the explosion. Medical staff from the center provided assistance on-site, and two of the injured were transferred to the hospital.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has initiated an investigation under Article 240 of the Criminal Code for violations of safety regulations. Law enforcement officers are currently working at the scene, and the area has been cordoned off.
