Calls for Review of Aid to Kyiv: New Resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (Republican, Georgia) introduced a resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives on Friday, demanding that President Joe Biden, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken provide lawmakers with comprehensive information on how the funds allocated to Ukraine by U.S. authorities are being spent.
"Congresswoman Greene's resolution requires President Biden, along with Secretary of Defense Austin and Secretary of State Blinken, to furnish the House of Representatives with all relevant information regarding how taxpayer dollars are being utilized in Ukraine," the announcement on the website states.
"While the Biden administration's warriors have spent over $113 billion on military assistance to Ukraine, our border agents have only requested $15.46 billion to protect our southern border and to stop the flow of fentanyl produced in China and imported by Mexican cartels, as well as to curb the illegal transport of people into the United States," Greene stated.
Previously, Greene had already presented an initiative in the House of Representatives proposing an audit related to the allocation of funds to Ukraine. In December 2022, the then-Democrat-controlled Foreign Affairs Committee of the lower house did not support her. After the vote, Greene pledged to seek a review when the Republican Party regained control of the committee following the November 8, 2022 midterm elections.
