Photos: Blue Flame Observed in the Sky Before Earthquake in Turkey and Syria

Social media users have shared photos and videos of a blue flame that appeared in the sky shortly before an earthquake occurred on the Turkish-Syrian border on Monday evening. The videos show a blue glow followed by tremors. Residents of Syria's Latakia and border areas of Turkey reported witnessing this phenomenon.

Hala Hasan, director of the Higher Institute of Seismic Research at Damascus University, told Sham FM radio that there is no explanation for the blue light, but noted that there are changes in the atmospheric electric and magnetic fields before tremors.

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported two earthquakes in Hatay province measuring 6.4 and 5.8 on the Richter scale, lasting three minutes, along with dozens of aftershocks. As of the latest reports, four people have died, and nearly 300 have been injured. The tremors were also felt by residents in several provinces of Syria. Witnesses in Damascus and Beirut, Lebanon, told RIA Novosti that the underground tremors were felt as strongly in these cities as during the earthquake on February 6.
