NATO Secretary General Visits Turkey
Following the earthquake that occurred in Turkey, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has visited Turkey to provide support. This is reported by Ermenihaber.
He held a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the presidential residence. Earlier, he met with Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to express his condolences and solidarity regarding the earthquake.
Stoltenberg also noted that this was the largest disaster to occur in the territory of NATO member countries since the formation of the alliance.
Addressing Sweden and Finland's membership, he stated that it is time to include these countries in the alliance, as they have made significant steps since the Madrid summit.
Stoltenberg also met with Turkey's Defense Minister Hulusi Akar at the 10th Tank Base in Adana. Akar expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre, which sent 2,000 tents to the earthquake-stricken areas in Turkey.
