Surik Papikyan Visits the Scene of the Tragic Fire in the Engineer-Sapper Battalion Barracks
On January 21, Armenian Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan, accompanied by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Minister of Defense, Major General Edward Asryan, and senior military officials, visited the 2nd Army Corps. This information is provided by the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
After honoring the memory of the fallen servicemen with a minute of silence on January 19, sharing the heavy grief of loss with comrades, relatives, and family members, and extending words of condolence, the Minister of Defense introduced the newly appointed commander of the army corps, Colonel Garegin Poghosyan, to the command staff.
Subsequently, the Minister of Defense visited the tragic scene of the fire that broke out in the engineer-sapper battalion barracks. Major General Ashot Zakaryan, head of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense, presented some details regarding the incident to the Minister. The head of the defense agency expressed confidence that all issues and circumstances of the case would be fully clarified during the initiated investigation.
The Minister of Defense instructed the heads of the responsible units to maintain strict attention to fire safety regulations to completely eliminate such incidents.
Suren Papikyan also visited the construction sites of modular barracks, giving relevant instructions for the work on the construction of the barracks to be carried out properly and within the stipulated timeframes.
