EU Foreign Ministers to Decide on Sending New Mission to Armenia
The foreign ministers of the 27 EU member states will make a decision on sending a new mission to Armenia this coming Monday. This was reported by Azatutyun.
According to a senior EU diplomat, "It should contribute to establishing stability in the region." The European Union is closely monitoring the events unfolding around the Lachin corridor and is taking measures to regulate the situation.
A group of Azerbaijani eco-activists has blocked the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia since December 12 of last year, claiming that the protest aims to "prevent the illegal exploitation of mines in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and the resulting environmental hazards." As of January 20, the blockade of the Lachin corridor has entered its 40th day. During this time, a critical shortage of food, medicine, and other vital supplies has emerged in Artsakh.
