Zakharova on Claims of Russian Pressure on Armenia
The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, addressed claims during a press briefing that Russia is exerting pressure on Armenia to grant Azerbaijan the so-called 'Zangezur Corridor'.
'This is a falsehood, which has been stated many times,' Zakharova noted during the briefing. She emphasized that within the framework of the trilateral working group focused on unblocking all economic and transport connections in the region, various routes for reopening communications are being discussed, including issues related to the restoration of railway traffic in southern Armenia.
'One of the principles of this work, which is not disputed by either Baku or Yerevan, is that the sovereignty over the routes belongs to the side whose territory they pass through,' Zakharova added.
