Pope Francis Invites Zelensky and Putin to the Vatican

Pope Francis has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Vatican to negotiate over the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict, and later suggested holding a major conference in the Vatican regarding security in Europe.

According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by Leonid Sevastyanov, president of the World Union of Old Believers, who is in contact with the pontiff. “I called the Pope today, and he blessed me to announce on his behalf that he is ready to provide the infrastructure of the Vatican, and this includes not only the Vatican but also various buildings in Rome for the meeting between Putin and Zelensky. Afterwards, Pope Francis proposed holding a major conference in the Vatican concerning security in Europe, with the participation of Russia, Ukraine, NATO, and European countries,” said Sevastyanov.

He expressed the opinion that Pope Francis is suitable as a mediator for the EU and Russia in resolving the Ukrainian conflict, as he has previously maintained a neutral position and “by condemning the war, did not condemn Russia or President Putin.”

“Macron showed that the Pope is acceptable to Europe as a negotiator, and it turned out that he is also acceptable to the Russian side… The Pope is a unique figure, neutral, an authority, and ready to spend time on reconciliation and to be a moderator,” Sevastyanov elaborated.
