G7 Leaders Hold Emergency Meeting on Ukraine
The leaders of the "Big Seven" countries have started an emergency meeting via video conference to discuss the consequences of mass strikes on Ukrainian facilities. As previously reported by a spokesperson for the German government, the G7 online meeting is taking place at the level of heads of state and government. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will join the conference as a guest at the very beginning.
According to the German cabinet representative, participants are unlikely to discuss the issue of providing weapons to Kyiv. He stated that there are other formats, such as the Ramstein format, which includes not only G7 countries.
During the summit, representatives of the "Big Seven" will primarily focus on the consequences of the recent escalation in Ukraine. Meeting participants will also discuss energy issues and related pricing matters.
The G7 countries decided to hold an emergency meeting after Russian armed forces launched mass strikes against Ukraine's military command and control, communication, and energy facilities the day before. Moscow emphasized that the objectives of the strike were achieved, and all designated targets were hit.
