Alen Simonian on the Five Points Published Yesterday
“I know about the article, but I haven’t read it,” said the Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonian, referring to the article published by the newspaper ‘Hayastani Jamanak’ titled ‘To the attention of the Catholicos of All Armenians, three presidents, and the expert community: What does Azerbaijan want?’ He noted that Armenia has not accepted any demands and that there is no document.
“The sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia are not subject to discussion,” Simonian stated.
What are Azerbaijan's five demands from Armenia according to reliable sources cited by the newspaper?
- Dissolution of the Artsakh Defense Army
- Recognition of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan without any autonomy status, meaning a status of zero.
- A corridor through Armenian territory
- A demarcation and delimitation process based on maps from 1919 and 1920 (it remains unknown which specific maps are referred to)
- Clarification of the fate of missing Azerbaijanis, possibly with the intent to later accuse Armenia of war crimes.
