"They threaten that Turkey will come at night". The Prime Minister of Greece responds to Erdoğan
This week, during his speech at the UN General Assembly, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has harshly responded to unfounded statements made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding Greece.
Mitsotakis emphasized that Greece's security, stability, and territorial integrity are Athens' red lines against Turkish aggression. He made this clear in his speech from the podium of the UN General Assembly.
The Prime Minister addressed Ankara's revisionist agenda and its destabilizing role in the region, as well as highlighted the provocative rhetoric stemming from Ankara.
Mitsotakis also referred to Turkey's unfounded and unacceptable accusations regarding the Greek islands and doubts related to their sovereignty, breaches in the sea and air, as well as the systematic disinformation campaign against Greece. He condemned Turkey's unilateral decision to cease high-level communications.
“It seems that the leadership of Turkey has a strange obsession with my country… They threaten that Turkey will come at night. This is the language of an aggressor,” Mitsotakis stated.
“I would like to directly address the Turkish people: Greece poses no danger to your country. We are not your enemies; we are neighbors,” said the Prime Minister of Greece.
“For almost fifty years, Cypriots have lived in a divided island due to illegal invasion and military occupation,” he added.
According to the Prime Minister, the international community must not ignore Turkey's illegal actions.
