Ukrainian Side Reports Its Casualty Numbers
The Ukrainian armed forces have suffered losses of more than 9,000 personnel in the war against Russia, stated Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar. At the same time, Malyar noted that the Ministry of Defense is unable to provide an accurate figure for the soldiers killed in Mariupol due to the impossibility of accounting for them, as reported by the Strana newspaper.
The Deputy Minister assessed Russian losses at "more than 50,000 killed." The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces estimates the number of Russian fatalities at 56,000.
It is worth recalling that on September 21, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced for the first time the losses of Russian troops. According to Shoigu, the Russian side has 5,937 fatalities.
