Case of Rabies in a Dog Reported in Tavush
On August 16, the Tavush regional center of the Food Safety Inspection Body received a report that a dog belonging to a villager in the Artsvaberd community bit another villager and then collapsed a few hours later.
The Food Safety Inspection Body (FSIB) quickly responded, with inspectors transferring the dog's head that same day to the Republican Veterinary Sanitary and Phytosanitary Laboratory Service Center of the RA FSIB. Laboratory tests confirmed a positive result, diagnosing the dog with rabies.
This information has been communicated to the World Organization for Animal Health, and the details are available on the OIE website. The affected individual immediately sought medical assistance at the Berd medical center and received the necessary treatment. The citizen was not hospitalized.
