Zelensky Had a Historic Opportunity to Prevent the Current Situation: Perspectives from Crimea
The head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, has stated that Vladimir Zelensky had a historic opportunity to prevent the escalation of the Ukrainian conflict, but he missed it.
"Zelensky had a historic chance to prevent the current situation at the very beginning of its formation, but he mediocrely missed that opportunity, as he is an inexperienced, short-sighted politician," Konstantinov wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to him, Zelensky should have recognized Crimea's Russian status and abandoned claims over Donbas.
"What did Zelensky lose in this case? Nothing. Crimea has not belonged to him for eight years, just like Donbas. The ordinary people living in these regions have long ceased to consider themselves what was previously referred to as Ukraine, as evidenced by all the surveys conducted in Crimea and Donbas," emphasized the head of the Crimean parliament.
Konstantinov further mentioned that the second condition for Ukraine to exit its political deadlock was the declaration of a neutral status.
"In general, Ukraine already had this; it just needed to maintain it and provide guarantees, including international ones. It's time to resolve the Ukrainian issue," he stressed.
