We Do Not Intend to Leave Our Homes: Agavno Mayor
We do not intend to leave our homes, and it is clear that Nikol Pashinyan is conducting negotiations incorrectly. This was stated by the mayor of Agavno, Andranik Chavushyan, in a conversation with NEWS.am.
According to the Agavno mayor, Nikol Pashinyan cannot continually assume the role of the concessionaire: “I don’t understand on what basis he is doing this. No one has given him a mandate to hand over land. He says that the residents of Agavno should sit down for negotiations regarding Artsakh, meaning that you should make wrong decisions, relinquish your position, and leave it to the authorities of Artsakh? It would be a disaster, both for him and for his brother Aliyev. I will not leave, and moreover, we are preparing for more serious actions.”
When asked how residents feel about this issue, Andranik Chavushyan said: “The residents’ sentiment is also directed towards staying. The more persecution there is, the more motivated we become. We do not plan to leave our homes quietly and without anything, simply because Nikol Pashinyan is conducting his negotiations incorrectly.”
When asked if Nikol Pashinyan's statement was unexpected, the mayor replied: “No, it was not unexpected. I was waiting for him to make such a statement. When we told people, they reacted with hatred. Thousands of people died so that the land would remain, and now we are giving up land to save a person's life? We do not need this life.”
It should be noted that Nikol Pashinyan mentioned in his press conference today that if the route changes, those territories that are not located within the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast will come under Azerbaijani control.
