The Boomerang Effect Has Not Been Canceled: Mamikon Aslanyan's Coalition Statement

The member of the Vanadzor City Council, Mamikon Aslanyan, has issued a statement announcing that his coalition will not participate in council meetings. The statement reads:

“Dear compatriots, beloved residents of the amalgamated community, the shameless plundering unleashed by the authorities against the Constitution, laws, and morality, accompanied by indescribable and filthy cynicism and an unparalleled disrespect towards our citizens, once again proves that the high-ranking officials responsible for this process are ready to turn our community into ruins and make our residents subservient and voiceless.

With the most egregious violations, the logic of local self-government is currently being distorted by introducing special positions assigned by the mayor's deputy (there is a special commission in the National Assembly regarding Vanadzor that is daily introducing new ‘laws’ with patches). I, currently as a council member and as a leader of a force that has gathered the maximum number of votes in the local elections, declare that my coalition will not participate in any illegality and will not contribute to the process of legal violation until the restoration of legal procedures and constitutional order.

Sooner or later, all the actors of this ‘shapito circus’ will have to answer for their lawful actions. I will never abandon the votes entrusted to us; I will stand up for each vote and will fight for our rights by any means necessary. Those who cross the limits of tolerance must understand that the boomerang effect has not been canceled (this is not a local self-government law for them to tread over with muddy heels; the National Assembly is powerless in that regard). Time will place everything in its rightful order. Vanadzor, stay strong, do not be discouraged.”
