‘If Armenia and Azerbaijan reach an unacceptable decision on the status issue, we will not accept it’: Artsakh Ombudsman
I hope that Armenian negotiators will understand that it is impossible to turn the people of Artsakh into an object.
Gegam Stepanyan said this during an episode of NEWS.am’s program “POWER FACTOR.”
“Even if a decision is made that does not serve the interests of Artsakh, both society and the elected authorities will boycott it. I hope that Armenian negotiators will understand that they cannot simply turn the people of Artsakh into an object, disregard their opinion, and negotiate something that is simply unacceptable for the people for whom they are negotiating. Even if we reach that point, I am confident that both the residents of Artsakh and the elected authorities will boycott it and will not accept such a decision. This matter will be raised again on the international stage, and if that happens, the people of Artsakh will be compelled to negotiate on their own behalf. After all, we are talking about over 100,000 people whose fate should not be decided by a single signature from Armenia, the international community, or especially Azerbaijan,” emphasized Gegam Stepanyan.
