Finland Can Join NATO Quickly If It Applies, Says Stoltenberg

If Finland decides to submit an application to join NATO, it will be able to receive expedited membership. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. He presented the organization's annual report on its activities today.

“NATO has always supported the fundamental right of any nation to choose its own path... Finland is a very close partner of NATO. The armed forces of Finland and Sweden meet NATO standards,” he said.

Moreover, the alliance's Secretary General emphasized that “the question of membership must be decided by Finland itself,” reported RIA Novosti.
