Ukraine Requests Immediate EU Membership
Ukraine has called on the European Union to grant it immediate membership, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a video address on Monday morning.
"We are applying to the EU with a request for Ukraine's urgent membership through a new special procedure," he stated.
Zelensky expressed confidence that such a decision would be just and that the Ukrainian people deserve it. In February 2019, then-President Petro Poroshenko signed a law amending the Constitution regarding the country's strategic course for membership in the EU and NATO, as reported by Interfax.
