VIDEO: Mayor and Legislator Fight in Brazil Over Water Park Construction Issue
The mayor of Borba, Brazil, and state legislator Erineu Alves da Silva engaged in an MMA-style fight in the ring, as reported by The Guardian. The officials aimed to resolve a dispute regarding the location of a proposed water park.
Silva called the mayor a "corrupt official" and a "fraud," expressing outrage over his inability to secure a location for the water park near the river. He challenged the mayor to a fight as a way to settle the matter. “I am not a boxer; I am a mayor, but if he wants to fight, I am ready. I am essentially a winner,” the mayor responded.
The match took place in a gym at one of the local schools, allowing residents to watch the broadcast or attend in person. After three rounds, the mayor emerged victorious, despite numerous missed strikes.
As a result, it was determined that there would be no water park by the river. Following the bout, local prosecutors took an interest in the event, deciding to investigate whether public funds were used to organize the fight and how the proceeds from ticket sales were spent.
