Armenia to Install Checkpoints on Goris-Kapan Highway in Response to Azerbaijani Actions: Security Council Secretary
In response to Azerbaijani actions, Armenia will install checkpoints on the Goris-Kapan highway. This was announced by the Secretary of the Armenian Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, during a broadcast on Public TV.
"Today, the Azerbaijani side informed the Armenian side that starting from midnight, it will implement border and customs control functions on the Goris-Kapan highway, meaning checkpoints will be established there. The Armenian side will also take corresponding measures, installing points for customs and border control in that section of the road," Grigoryan stated.
He noted that these preparations had already begun by the Armenian side in advance.
Commenting on the alternative Kapan-Tatev route, Grigoryan mentioned that it is already ready. He stated that it can be considered a safely operational road, which will also enable cargo transportation.
According to the Security Council Secretary, the Yerevan-Kapan road is the best road constructed in the last 15 years. Grigoryan added that the roads leading to the communities of Shurnukh, Vorotan, and Jrapten are also being improved.
