Biden-Erdogan Meeting in Rome Lasted About One Hour

In Rome, within the framework of the G20 summit, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with his American counterpart Joe Biden, as reported by the Anadolu Agency. Also participating in the meeting was Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. The meeting lasted about one hour.

The last face-to-face meeting between the leaders of Turkey and the United States took place in June during the NATO summit in Brussels. Erdogan previously stated that one of the key topics of the upcoming negotiations with the White House leader would be Turkey's participation in the development of the fifth-generation F-35 aircraft program.

It was also reported that Biden plans to tell Erdogan that the two countries need to find ways to avoid crises with each other, as the alliance has recently been tested by the U.S. threat of no longer recognizing its ambassador and Turkey's purchase of the Russian-made S-400 missile defense system.

The two leaders are also expected to discuss regional issues related to Syria and Libya, according to a senior U.S. administration official.
