Iran's Foreign Ministry Appeals to the UN: Tehran Demands Accountability
The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General, the President of the Security Council, and member states, urging them to condemn the actions of the United States, which Tehran describes as "economic terrorist actions."
"After failing to achieve its criminal objectives in two aggressive wars against Iran in 2025 and 2026, the United States has decided to pursue the same unlawful goals through pressure and coercion, participating in economic terrorist actions," the letter has been quoted by the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
The foreign minister emphasized that the US sanctions and restrictions are systemic and deliberately deprive the civilian population of access to food, medicine, medical equipment, and energy. According to Araghchi, such actions constitute collective punishment and warrant criminal prosecution against those who issue the orders and those who carry them out.
