6.1 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Japan

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake has struck near Tokyo, Japan's capital. The country's national meteorological agency reported this, according to TASS.

The epicenter of the undersea tremor was located on the border between Tokyo and Chiba prefectures, at a depth of 80 km. Following the strong earthquake, there is no tsunami threat reported in the capital, although aftershocks may occur.

At least two people have been reported injured, as stated by NHK. In some buildings, elevators stopped due to the activation of emergency systems.

Metro services, as well as the operation of Shinkansen bullet trains, have been completely halted due to the earthquake. There are currently no reports of casualties.
